What are the benefits of Competitive Markets?
As Pennsylvania transitions to a completely deregulated electricity market by January 2011, consumers naturally ask the question: "what are the benefits?"
At Direct Energy Business, we believe that a competitive market brings consumers various benefits such as:
- Wider choice of product offering
- Lower costs through efficient delivery of products and services
- Choice of energy retailer
- Promotes technical innovation, energy conservation and investment in renewable energy
- Creates jobs
The public truly believes in competition – nationwide, 74 percent of Americans see competitive markets as the right way to meet electricity generation goals.
Mature deregulated electricity markets such as those in Texas, New York, and Alberta are flourishing. In those markets, consumers have been afforded the freedom to shop and choose their retailer and competition has poured billions into new generation, renewable projects, and transmission infrastructure. In time, we anticipate similar results here in the Keystone State – that is our commitment to Pennsylvania.
