Pittsburgh Hosts the Group of 20 Summit
The week of the Group of 20 (G-20) International Summit has finally arrived. After months of preparation, the City of Pittsburgh is ready to handle the demands of 20 heads of state and the accompanying crowds. Most of the downtown core has been sealed to regular traffic and many businesses, including Direct Energy Business, have their employees working from alternate locations.
Congregating at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, the G-20 leaders, representing 85% of the global economy, will discuss everything from the global economic recession to the adoption of climate change policies.
Direct Energy Business, owned by London-based Centrica plc and part of Direct Energy, located in Toronto, Canada, has chosen to showcase to the world the benefits of being a large, international company. Direct Energy Business will green the electricity usage of the City of Pittsburgh for both days of the G-20 Summit by securing Green-e Energy certified Renewable Energy Credits, or RECs, generated from renewable energy sources located in Pennsylvania and Texas.
